The thinking is that the frame/feedramp being Aluminum and a Steel mag follower may not get along.
The steel follower on a mag could I suppose scratch/gouge the ramp on the softer aluminum frame. IDK, my Aluminum frame 1911s have ramped bbls, thus no chance of that. If it worries you use mags with a plastic follower, like the excellent Wilson mags. What mags does Colt supply? |
