Hardly anything is "drop-in" on a 1911 besides grips and sights.

I am considering a drop in type , for a suppressor host .
45 ACP. Is a wonderful round and easily suppressed.

As Yoda said the barrel like any other critical part is not drop in.  Semi-drop in.  That is kinda like semi-pregnant.

Well, the comments about drop-in barrels is not quite accurte.  All the GI barrels I had for my GI pistols could be swapped without problems (Hi-standard, Colt, and match bbls).  Of course, the tolerances were looser.  And those GI guns just ran fine.

I fitted a Kart barrel in my custom 1911.  Took more work than the directions implied but I got it to work and it is a reliable and accurate shooter with a B&T suppressor.

When you fit your own barrel you really learn how 1911 locking of the barrel to the slide works.

I had a Storm Lake "drop in" kit, that I used in my Ruger SR1911 without any issues. When I checked the fit on my O1980RG, it didn't even come close to fitting in the slide, let alone checking the lock up. I'd suggest contacting a good smith and having a barrel fitted to the Colt.

Kart, Barsto Jarvis...

As others have said, a high quality 1911 barrel needs to be fitted properly by someone who knows how to do so. Otherwise you are paying for a name, without getting the performance.
