I should know this, but I'm having a brain freeze moment.

I have a Colt series 70 government model that I use for general shooting, and more recently IPSC shooting. I've been having a on going problem with rounds ejecting, using my loads, or factory loads.

I've been though everything and have come to the conclusion that my springs are too powerful, I want to replace the springs with some reduced power ones. I am right in saying that I should be looking at some 13lb springs, or what would everyone suggest?

All of my 5 inch 45s have a 17lb springs, except a wadcutter only gun (185 gr SWC loads) that has a 14lb spring.

My guess is either your extractor is really dirty or you need a new one.

Yes, you can shoot enough to put so much crap into and under the extractor such that it does not work.  I have done it more times than I care to admit.  I use carbon cutter or other equivalent solvents that tend to get back into the crap under the extractor and enhances the caking of the crap after many repeated shootings/cleanings.

I've checked the extractor (as it was my first thought too), and it's spotless.

1st and foremost...extractor tension (check it)
