I just fired off an email to WaltherUSA concerning my P-22. Lately, when firing with the 5" barrel and compensator, the compensator slides forward, or to the left or right. No matter how much I tighten the allen screws, it still slides around. Also, almost 90% of the time that I insert a fresh magazine into the weapon with the slide locked back, it fails to move fully forward into battery. I have to manually work the slide to load the first round. I know P-22s do not have a reputation for reliablity, but even for a plinking gun I expect a little more than this. Anyone had good experiences with Walther's customer service? |

Avenge: What's happening is that the hammer is hanging up on the safety. You could try to dress the "edge" of the hammer to make it more rounded... (if you take the slide off and replace it without the recoil spring you'll be able to diagnose exactly where the resistance is), but be careful -- if you take too much material off the hammer, it will become "double action only." Most people report that problem to go away with a good "break-in" so keep that in mind. I figure you should plan on about 500 rounds of minimags to break in the pistol. |
Thanks for the advice - however, I have already put about 500 rounds or more through the weapon, everything from CCI Stingers to CB caps, with plenty of Golden Bullets thrown in. I may try to dremel down the edge myself if Walther doesn't help any, but I am very leery of amateur gunsmithing. |
