A couple years ago I picked up a 2nd Gen P99 .40. It was on sale due to the undesired Desert Brown/Black bi-tone. I think I paid $375. The design of this handgun is extremely comfortable to hold. But to be honest I rarely shoot it due to two issues. The first is its failure to return to full battery after almost every shot (Both FMJ and Def Loads) and requires a good palm hit on the back of it, I probably should have it sent in to Walther but was curious if anyone had any suggestions. The second is that it is pretty snappy being a .40. I never owned a .40 and I was curious. Due to the snappiness of it and the overly curvature design of the trigger, I find it painful on the booger hook to shoot, it bites pretty hard. Anyone else experience this with the trigger and have any suggestions?

Not sure if its so much the spring. I took it out again last evening to get a better picture of whats happening. What appears to be happening is that after the shot, it attempts to chamber a new round but it is not chambering smoothly, causing it to fail to RTB. It appears that the round is coming into the chamber at too steep of an angle and is jamming. I first thought it was the mag doing it but it happens with all 12 of my mags. Perhaps the chamber is too tight, or the feed ramp angle is out of spec?
