Apparently I posted in the incorrect forum the last time. So lemme try again.

On my P99AS (greatest weapon in my opinion) I am experiencing slide-to-frame impact during recoil.

I can manually cycle the slide and recreate the issue. Is this correct? I have never seen nor heard of this happening in another weapon. (I am an 8 year veteran)

Some help would be greatly appreciated.

I think every gun impacts at some point(s) during cycling. You sound experienced so maybe I don't understand the question. What's the issue exactly?

The point the recoil spring fits into on the slide(technical name escapes me), impacts the frame during cycling. It impacts the corresponding ‘pocket’ for the recoil spring.

Walther P22's had a severe issue with this (causing cracking and splitting of the slide) and a redesigned slide was created. I believe that my issue is rather unique as I have not heard nor read of such an issue.

I will try to retrieve some photos of the issue. Thank you for the reply.

I've a a commander that never had the recoil spring changed before I bought it. frame is peaned, but pistol still 100% functions.

Commander has to be 1970's era

I have contacted Walther (S&W) and they sent me a prepaid shipping label to send the firearm back to them.

I have not heard anything as yet (only been 4 days since they received it). However, as soon as I hear anything, I will post it here.
