So the local fun store only has the magazines with the B at the end of the serial # and the overall online theme is that these are bad. Where do you find the A's? Or are the B's the good one's? My P22 is an 07 model NIB with two B magazines. |

the difference in the A's and B's is that the slot at the top of the magazine on the A's is 3.8 of an inch long and on the B's it is a full one inch long ..... the slots on the back of the mags are there to help the shell casings stagger better in the mag and feed more reliably |

I have the original two magazines that came with my p22. Both are 'A's. One has the short slot, the other the long. I've never noted any difference in feeding or reliability. The online consensus is that the long slot is better overall but it seems specific to the pistol. Some benefit, others don't. In any case the letter code on the mags seems fairly inconsequential. Careful comparisons reveal no significant differences. The slot length doesn't seem to correlate to the letter, although newer mags all seem to have the short slot. The code may have a more logistical meaning important to Walther then any design revision. -Local |
