I shot my P38 today for the first time using Winchester white box 115 grain. The first few mags went flawless. Then, occasionally, the hammer would not stay cocked back after shooting it. The round chambered and on pulling the trigger, the de-cocked action fired just fine.
But the hammer's supposed to stay cocked. Whats wrong, anf how do I fix it? Any help is always appreciated.

Does it only do it with the WWB? If it does it with all ammo then you have a sear or sear spring problem.

I dont know, wwb is all I've tried.  I'm guessing that the ammo is good because it cocked the hammer for the first few mags.  What does the sear and sear spring look like?
