I have had a P22 for 5 years and really enjoy shooting it. We have put 2500 plus rounds though it and it has developed a problem. When you fire the pistol, the safety re-engages and blocks the hammer on the next pull. I have cleaned and tightened the safety area several times. Last weekend at the range, both mags I had loaded with Wally World Remington 36 grain jhp Hi-velocity stuff would reset the safety. Then I shot 100 rounds of ficholletti (sp?) without a hitch. This weekend I tried the remington again and still had the same problem. Tried some Fereral hi-velocity and had the safety problem. I am starting to wonder if the lip of the hammer that rubs the safety isn't moving the safety out of it's hole and the inertia of the slide coming forward isn't finishing what the hammer started. Any advice would be great. I am stripping it all the way down and removing the safety to clean it's gut and then putting it all back together.

Thanks

Mine did that so I sent it to S&W to fix.  They made it so stiff that I no longer use the safety
