| i can get a new pps 9mm for $500... what do yall think of the gun and the price? thanks |
| $380 at Bud's today with free shipping, that leaves tax & FFL cost. I'd expect the highest to be around $$450 OTD. I have a PPS and a Shield, and I've shot the Glock. The PPS I thought was the sweetest and most accurate of the three, but the mag release takes some getting used to. You can get a Shield all day in the $350-400 range and that makes it the best overall deal. |
| Been researching the PPS all afternoon. Sounds like a great pistol. I am disappointed in the aftermarket support for it though. Not a lot of sight options (and I hate the stock 3 dot sights). Looks like the only option for non- 3 dot sights is the XS Big Dots which I don't hate, but wouldn't be my first choice. Could be a deal breaker for me. |

I was just looking at one today at my local fun store chain. Sale price is $379, so I am strongly considering it! At $500, I'd buy the Glock 43. Quoted:

Got a used (like new) one today for $300 -- like $330 out the door (with a build date of September 2014).
It was priced at $380, but I showed them that new ones were $370. I just came on here to research sights for it, and any things I need to look into (the trigger is a bit long and heavy for my liking). |
|
Trijicon has sights for it.
As to the trigger, is it the H or S trigger? You can tell by removing the slide and look at the disconnector tab on the right side of the frame, it will have an H (heavy, for eastern stupid states that require 10 pound triggers) or S (standard) stamped on it. If it's an H it can be swithced out, but you will need someone competent to do it, they are a bit more complex than the Glocks are. Swing over to the WaltherForums, they have lotsof info on the PPS available. |
|
Yeah, it's an S.....feels like a rough 7.5lb break, but the kids relocated my trigger pull gauge for the moment.
Pretravel is gritty and there's a jolting 1/8"-1/16" of overtravel. Compared to all my tuned Glocks, it bugs me--but I'll see how I shoot with it. I've always heard these are very accurate guns. Orange-front Trijicon HDs inbound with next paycheck! |

Well, to be fair you should compare it to a stock Glock, yes?
You did say it's like new, so you should expect the trigger to smooth up with use, and be sure to properly clean and lube your PPS, this is critical. And do give it a fair chance, they really are a great small pistol, and are very accurate. |

Picked up mine today from my FFL. Just a hair under $380 shipped from Grabagun. Had one a while back but the wife liked it so it became hers. Didn't want to spend 5 or 6 hundred on another one at the time, too many other things I wanted. With the recent price drop it was a no-brainer though. Even after the transfer fee I'm under $405. Happy to have a PPS again |
| In all honesty, when i was shooting both the PPS and 43 side by side, I was surprised at how unpleasant the Glock 43 was to shoot in comparison to the Walther PPS.....43 was smaller and lighter (felt a little on the cheap side), but the recoil was significantly more than the PPS, which was a little larger and heavier. The difference in triggers to me was almost insignificant, but slight edge going to PPS. |
