I am new to the Walther P22. When the weapon is on safe, magazine in and I pull the trigger the hammer falls. Is that normal? I am going to the range saturday to see if a round discharges when this happens, but it seems weird to me. hinking.gifhinking.gif
When It is on safe, there is a metal barrier that comes up and the "firing pin" does not go forward. When it is on fire, the "firing pin" moves quite easily. These facts make me belive that the safety works, but it doesnt control the hammer. Is any of what I am saying right? Or should I be concerned and send it to the boys at Walther? Thanks in advance

Have you actually read your owners manual yet?

There's several models that allow a hammer to drop w/o hitting the firing pin. I don't own a P22 so I can't speak for them.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.  It does allow the hammer to fall. If its in the manual, I missed it but that is possible. I had just never seen that happen before. I took it to the range and the safety works just fine. Thank for the inputh.gif

seems to me that the Walther P22 doesn't have a safety.  What you describe sounds like a decocker in action.

A lot of DA/SA pistols do this.  The Beretta, Sig, most of the Walthers.

While it is called a decocker, it will also act like a safety.
