Well I bought one on a whim, it's the 3" cylinder with 3" barrel model. Also had to have some fed 410 3/0 buck and a couple box of winchester 3" 3/0 buck too. On the way out I saw and bought a box of the new Hornady 45 colt 225gr FTF leverevoution ammo. So I sneak out to the range lunch time and try it out. We all know this is not a target gun but at 21 feet I was getting a little less then 2" groups with the 3/0 buck (that would have to hurt). I can not speak of the ballestic's of this round but it had no trouble going thru the paper : ). But shooting my reloaded 45 colt 250gr lead ammo, it was all over the target (at least it was on the target). Next I tried the Hornady and it was much better but still no kind if groups. I have read in here where people are shooting decent groups with .45 in this gun. Is it the longer cylinder (more free bore) or just me? Or maybe others tend to stretch (or in this case shrink) their results?
Any way you look at it it's an outstanding gun to prevent car jacking and with birdshot will keep dogs away from you on your bike. As for a man stopper, well at less then 20 feet, 4ea 3/0 buck hitting you in the chest has got to make you rethink your intentions even if it doen not blow the BG back 15 feet like on TV.
Overall fun gun, but how do you carry it and keep it reasonable hidden?

If your going to shoot any buck shot make sure you get the new 2 1/2" 000 Buck made by federal for the Judge. I think is says personal defense on it. The reason being is it is copper plated, so the buck shot doesn't flatten out and reduce the penetration like regular non coated does. It also comes out at around 1200fps. I think federal also designed the wad a little differently to hold the shot together better. I have not had a chance to shoot any 45LC because I can't find any, but I have heard that is is fairly accurate with the 2 1/2" chamber. I find the judge to be a pretty good all around gun it use it for hunting rabbits at close range, or if you live in snake country it would be good for that. The Federal 000 buck made for the judge would be a good man stopper at close range less than 25 ft. I have the new public defender version with a 2" barrel, and 2 1/2" chamber, for it's size it is fairly large for carry but it isn't too bad, similar to a full size auto.
