A couple of friends of mine just took their CHL classes and are looking to buy their carry weapons.  They were at Gander Mountain today and the wife was looking at a Taurus 9mm.  That's all they could tell me about it except that it held 17 rounds and was pink.  (God save us. )  I called Gander Mountain and the clerk said it was a Millenium Pro, 9mm, 3.5" barrel, DAO, and 17 round mag.  And yes, it's pink.  (God save us. )

I have no experience with Taurus.  Looking to the hive mind to find out about the quality and shoot-ability of this pistol.  What say you?  Also,  I looked at the Taurus website and it shows 10 and 12 round magazines for this pistol but not 17.  Is it really a 17 round mag?

No. its not a 17 round mag, but the PT-111 Pro does make a nice CCW.

Here's mine (Its not pink) with a left handed Cross Breed Quik Clip IWB with the clip in Straight Drop position:

The Cross Breed is comfortable, easy to take off or put on and the belt clip has 3 positions set up for Small Of the Back (SOB),  Straight Drop, and FBI Cant. It also works in Crossdraw. With the little 9mm PT-111 Pro this rig just drops out of sight and Crossdraw is great for when you drive a lot.

I had one in 45. It started out fine but started getting wired little issues like the safety not fully disengaging. Repaired for free but I sold it

I have the stainless version and it shoots like a dream if you are comfortable with guns. it is a perfect size and VERY easy to conceal and is dead on accurate. The PT145 on the other hand is a little harder to achieve the same accuracy except at very close range and obviously wants to jump a whole lot more. While i haven't always been a 9mm fan, and I still love my XD .45, this is a great gun for carrying when i am in a suit or other dress attire. And with proper shot placement and proper ammo the 9mm is just fine.

I accidentally drop the mag almost every time I fire one. My thumb hits the mag release. Never happens with any other pistol.

I had one that was repaired for free as well, but it took them 6 months.

Mine's dead-nuts reliable.  No problems at all after about 1000 rounds.  Good sized carry gun, decent capacity, fairly accurate.  Just don't ride the slide forward when loading.  And make sure the barrel is all the way forward when reassembling, or you will lock the whole thing up.

I have one of the older model PT111 Millenium Pro's stainless, and it's great for conceal carrying.  Small, easy to carry / "hide" and still be able to access.  I've had it for a few years now and it's great for Conceal Carrying.

I have two drawbacks i've found with this weapon.  First, i've had to send mine by to Taurus twice now.  Both times shooting white box winchester i've had the handle / frame crack between the mag release and top of the frame where the slide meets.  Kept it from being able to retain a mag in the gun, the mags would just fall out.  Second, mine has a HORRIFICALLY long trigger pull.  I've often found myself wondering what was wrong because the gun had not yet fired after such a long trigger pull.

Good for Carrying, and self defense in an emergency though?  Hell Yes.

Well, I had one for a while, for the SO.................................

Best thing I could say about it was it was totally reliable, about 500 rnds throug it no malfunctions.  And the grip was nice and slim.

But, the trigger pull was horrible.  Very hard for her to be accurate with (she has no problem being accurate with the Glock trigger though.).  I wasn't crazy about it either.

The mag release was very weak, and easily hit on accident.  If I'd kept the gun, I'd have ground it down almost flush with the frame to remedy this.

The mags, though they both said 12 rnds on them, I could never cram more than 11 in, no matter how hard I tried.  Didn't seem to be that well made, the mags that is.

Seemed to be fairly well made, but seemed to have a few too many small parts inside................not sure about how the longevity would've been.  I have since read reports of slides cracking.

Sites were somewhat small too.

Not all that bad a pistol, but you could do much better for a "carry piece".

The Millennium Pro series is nice gun it is priced right and shoots very straight,, Now for the average Joe a carry gun will have little use in life (we hope) a trip to the range  once a month to keep sharp. and then the occasional outing with the buds to toss lead down range,.. in a year on average one would put thru it maybe 800 to 1200 rounds..( and that is high for most peeps) for a cost effective carry gun that is reliable and will not jam it's a win..

Now if you think its a USPSA  or service pistol match gun then you have the wrong idea about a carry gun, , Unless you have ass loads of money then just go buy a Kimber.. A carry gun  is meant to protect your life not win you medals in EIC Pistol matches. ( and yes I know you can not use this gun in a EIC match) Jut trying to make a point.

I at one time carried a glock 27 for years until the discharge. It was my fault I was removing the gun from my holster and it slipped. Instinct made me try and catch it. (Bad Idea ) finger hit the trigger and boom. No one was hurt only a hole in the floor.. a manual safety would have stopped it from happening.

If you are on budget under 400 and not looking for a combat pistol them yes the Mill Pros are for you,

Now lets talk stopping power. for most peeps all you need is 9mm stats show most gun altercations that involve a person defending ones self are over in less than 5 seconds and only 4 shots are fired on average at close range,  under 10 feet..  but if you feel the need for 40 and or 45 cal it still is a free country right for now.....
