So I bought my first Taurus about a week ago (for my fiance).  It's a Millenium  40SW.  We took it to the range for the first time this Saturday, and had some issues with it not feeding properly.  On average, I'd say the weapon didn't feed properly once or twice per magazine.  The slide would stay to the rear, with the round not quite making its way into the chamber.  A simple pull and release of the slide fixed the problem every time, but needless to say, I'm concerned.

I'm wondering if any other Millenium owners ran into the same problem, and if so, how it was resolved.  I'm not sure if the factory mags aren't the best, or what.  Any advice would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

Okay, I'm really not trying to be disrespectful, but buying a malfunction-prone handgun for your fiance might not be a great idea. Taurus being more prone to malfunction than other brands.

What ammo? Did this happen with all shooters or just the fiance? Did you clean and lube it beforehand?

Well, what's done is done.  I bought the weapon on the quick before going on active duty.  Admittedly, I didn't do a ton of research.  The weapon was the in both the size and price range I was going for.  Having said that, I don't believe I purchased a $400 paper weight.

The ammunition was Remington UMC 165 gr.  It wasn't just her, the problem occured with me as well.  I used a small amount of CLP on the inside of the weapon before our trip, but I didn't thoroughly clean it before hand.

I'd recommend trying different ammo. Could either (both) of you been limpwristing? It is a light gun for .40...

The 40's are much more sensitive to limp wristing than the 9x19's.

Give the Millennium a thorough cleaning, then lube.  After this shoot ~250 rounds +/- out of it.

If your pistol still does not work after this, most likely it won't ever work well.

I hadn't considered limp wristing -- I wasn't paying a lot of attention to how firm my grip was.  I'll give it a good clean and lube and head back to the range as soon as I can to test the limp wrist theory.  What ammo would you recommend I use this time?

Try Winchester White Box and maybe some Federal too. Maybe it just doesn't like UMC.
