The Wife just bought her first handgun for an NRA basic pistol course we will be taken together soon in PA. She chose the 92B and I think she made a good choice, its a great looking gun, feels good in the hands too. *Can someone tell me what the maximum grain the handgun can handle. I saw a number in the manual I just want to see what others are using safely. *I didnt see in the manual what powder load the gun could safely and repeatedly handle either P, +P, +P+ What is everyone else using successfully? (nothing like real world experience ) *I know most Ruger Semi's will handle any factory load and mine has done this so far (not trying to start a war or troll) but is there any ammo that I should stay away from, Im still a newbie when it comes to these things; and would appreciate some advice on good home protection ammo for the 92B. For practice I already picked up some WWB (forgot the grain though lol) *Whats the best way to break in this fine firearm, I want to make sure this pistol is well cared for. *Are there any common problems or nuicances with this model, it has the 17rd mag. and I understand the bullets may have some play inside. Anything besides this? Thanks! |

for practice anything that is cheap. basically 115 grain FMJ. Use a US made brand. Nothing wrong with the remanufactured loads from Ultramax or Black hills. These use previously fired brass, but it is well processed so there are virtually never problems with the brass. Some people complain about the 250 round bulk packs of ultramax so stay with 50 round boxes. For defense: Use a premium load.. I read a ton of articles etc and chose +P 124 grain in any of these brands: Cor Bon, Remington Golden Saber, Speer Gold Dot. (this does not mean any brand that loads the gold dot bullet, only the Speer loaded ammo.) I personally don't go for Hyra-shok, but it's probably as good as the others. For your defense ammo. Buy a box and shoot it all. You want to be sure your gun likes it. Then buy another box for defense. Shot your defense box at the range once ortwice a year and buy new. Don't rely on a defence brand/load that you haven't test fired. |
