Oakley M's are fairly decent but you also might consider
Oakley's Half Jacket brand of ballistic glasses
or Wiley X's which can be found for fairly cheap on Ebay

+1.  ESS makes an excellent product.  I have the ICE Tactical Kit and it has performed flawlessly.

The plastic lenses are so strong that i actually cut myself when changing out the different color lenses.  Also they are half the price as Wiley X's.

Check out the link above.  Its $85 for the tactical kit.  Which gives you two full pairs of glasses and one extra lens.  Plus a hard case, a soft case, and some anti-fogging solution.

If you have a small head check out the ICE Naro version.  They are a little smaller.

Also Check out the Crossbow.  I have not tried them yet but they are the new lenses which are very similar to the ICE lenses.

I would second the ESS ICE. Mine were less than $30; clear, grey and yellow lenses, one set of arms and nosepiece and a softcase.

Another vote for the ESS ICE. I got the Tactical kit for Christmas. Came with three lenses and two sets of ear stems and nose pieces for $85 as well so it's really two sets of glasses with an extra lens.

I'm waiting on the RX inserts now.

when you get your Rx inserts can you let me know how they are?  Someone once told me it gave them double vision.

I've sold a number of the Vice Rx inserts and no one has had that problem.  I do recommend to people that they have their optician put anti-reflective coating on their lenses though.  That makes a big difference from what I'm told (I know an optician and he recommended this to me, I don't need glasses myself).

Do I really need protection for my peepers while out shooting or are they mostly just worn during comps?

ALWAYS.

You don't know when you're going to have a case failure, or ricochet splatter come back to your eyes. Asking if you should only wear protective glasses during a competition is like saying you should only put on your seatbelt before a crash.

The other thing to consider is even if you don't care about yourself, you need to think about your family having to live with you with a missing eye. And, there's always the possibility someone could use an accident like that as an excuse to harm a gun store, or a gun range you belong to.

Anybody use the ESS CDI Max at the range?
They look like they'd pull double duty on the bike so I could kill two birds with one set of glasses.

From time to time, yes.  I have the CDI Max and the ICE shields at the present.  I like them both and just wear whichever I feel like that day.

I've got a pair in stock, if you're interested.
