You'll prob have a hard time finding one or finding anyone that has much experience with them unless they're former or active military.  I'm sure there are a couple floating around but very rare in the civilian world.  The Surefire Military hand gun light is my personal favorite and nothing available now days seems to compare since using one while I was a Marine.  If you can find one get it and don't tell anyone.

You could also install a rail on your 1911 and have the option to pick up a light of your choice.  Lots of good rail options for a 1911...prob could get a new Glock with a rail for the same price as the light your mentioned as well.

The Surefire Military is obsolete. Technology has advanced to where even the most inexpensive tac light on the market today is a better choice.

I thought all old pistol weaponlights were discontinued in favor of the X300 and X400....

What is wrong with an X300 and trigger guard mount from SF?

Older model guns without rails were addressed by Surefire aka Laser Devices. For Glocks (I'm assuming Glock 17/22/31) there was the older Classiclight system model # 644AR which mounted to the front of the trigger guard. Then there was the Nitrolon which is the one you are inquiring about, which utilizes a trigger guard mounted rail, and then the actual light unit itself. Then there was also the Military version, i'm not sure about the model number, I think it's M111C, which was a 9volt system compared to the Nitrolon weaponlight which was a 6v system. These lights are fairly hard to come by, as they have been discontinued by surefire and replaced by the x200 and x300 series. You could also purchase a rail from surefire (which im pretty sure they still sell for both the glock w/o rails and 1911's w/o rails) and mount a x200 or m3 or tlr if thats what you want.

Also, back in the day the 310r or 610r was the go-to light for railless 1911's. it's the same light used by LAPD swat today. these are pretty much impossible to find, I remember seeing them sell for about $400-$500 on eBay a few months back.

As far as the P111C specifically, that is the constant on version, in which there is both a pressure switch that partially wraps the grip, and a button in which can turn the light "constantly" on. There is also the P111D, which is the version with a pressure switch, and a button for disabling the light, so it doesn't activate by the pressure switch.

I have seen some P111's floating around on eBay for about $200-$250, I have a P111 but plan on keeping it as they've become sort of a collector's item now.

I have both the "w" and the "p" series lights, they are great. I use the "w" on my ar and the "P" on my 1911 works just fine and the "P" uses a P90 bulb which is awesome.

I have a P111D set-up for  a G19.  It works well.  Its an older light system, but is quite serviceable. I even have a good Blade-Tech holster.  Its all sitting on a shelf.

If you are really wanting one, I'd be willing to part with it.

I also have a Nitrolon w/ Dawson rail set-up on a 5" Kimber. Has the disable function and grip switch.   It works quite well, and has seen hard use.  Its my nightstand pistol. I also use it in training classes.
