I like to use a Smith 629 with an 8-3/8" barrel or a Ruger Super Blackhawk with a 7-1/2" barrel for deer hunting in Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania.  There could be snow falling, the temperature could be near freezing, or it could be 50 degrees out and sunny.

I am looking for suggestions for rigs to hold those guns.  Hip or shoulder setups would be ok.  If a shoulder system, it would have to be adjustable enough to go on the outside of a hunting outfit, so the gun wouldn't be concealed.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Scoped or iron sights?  The Uncle Mike's bandoleer/across-the-chest holster sounds like a good idea for bulky clothing in rugged areas if you're using a scope.  I'm not saying the quality is the best, as I'm not the lying type, but this type of holster sounds like what I would use if it was my decision.

Guess I should have specified UN-scoped.  I have an Uncle Mike's across-the-chest holster now for a Contender that I use for groundhogs - 14" barrel and Burris 2-7x scope.  But I need something for the revolvers.

to carry my 7.5 in .44 mag Super blackhawk in the field I use the "Big Jake Crossdraw" rig from Andrew's Custom Leather. It is a western style rig, very well made, all hand made and fitted to the gun. The belt is also very well made and has loops to accomodate 20 rounds

here is the website:

I just got a Tucker Gunleather IWB holster and I'm really impressed with it. You can see the review here. They also make a field holster, belt holster and paddle holster for most ever revolver. Check them out at Tucker Gunleather
