Should a kydex holster cause shiny spots on a pistol after 2 draw strokes?

I've got a leather holster that is putting some serious wear on my G26 after a few short weeks of carry; kydex can be just as bad....actually worse.

I used to get wrapped around the axle about this, but I've come to the conclusion that carry wear gives the firearm character and more importantly, it's a badge of honor.

My kydex holsters probably showed wear on my guns the first few times, I never really looked.

If you use/carry a gun it gets scratched. The kydex versus leather wear argument aside.

Honestly, if you're worried about your gun getting spots, scratches buy something that you wont care about and carry it. Odds are you'll carry it more.

Just my opinion

Any holster will cause wear.  Kydex can accelerate it some.  What kind of gun and finish?

Kydex uses friction fit to hold the firearm.

it will ABSOLUTELY take the finish off a firearm..

IME kydex will take a little finish off then stop. Leather will contineally take finish off over the years. I like both and dont notice the wear over the dings and scraps of life.

In my experience Kydex will wear the gun on all the high points and on the
sharp edges rather quickly but will stop at that as long as you wipe out the grit
from the holster periodically. (Which is very easy to do)

Leather holsters are less harsh at the beginning but after a while it turns
into sandpaper and sands down the whole gun because the grit gets
imbedded in to the grain of the leather. (Much harder to clean out)
