What're folks using for a cost effective pistol safe? I keep a trigger lock on my pistol inside a foam case which isn't the best for home defense. With my son getting older (7) I'm looking for something he can't get into but still provides easy access while being secure.
I've seen some things online but I can't tell if it's a POS or a good investment. What say the hive? |

I keep mine in a large safe, not ideal for HD. I will be watching this thread.
I did try one of these at the local fun store and I liked it. I think you can attach a power cord to one of them so you don't have to worry about dead batteries. $pendy price tho so have to save up for it. *note i don't own one yet so can't vouch for this thing 100% but did like what i saw in the store. gunvault hope this helps as an aside note. I don't have kids (yet) and am not sure i like the idea of my pistol locked up at all. GF is not gona shoot me (most days)  so why lock it up unless i plan to be gone for an extended length of time. I also don't live in a high crime area so theft is remote. Oh wait I live in the People's Republic of Massachusetts that require me to lock up my guns!  WTF? ok rant over
