Do you have an online store? If so want to send me a link?

45 HST is like the tooth fairy, Santa, the Easter Bunny, and Bigfoot/Sasquatch.  I take that back, Bigfoot might actually be tromping around the woods here.

Just buy Speer Gold Dot, Remington Golden Saber, Corbon DpX, or Winchester Ranger T instead.  These are all just as good as HST.

The thing about HST is that in almost every test I've seen it performs just a BIT better than Ranger-T.  Not by much at all, but it's there.  That little extra bit and that fact that it's virtually unobtainable right now makes it the holy grail of defensive 45.  If it was as common as Ranger-T, we would probably be arguing about the actual merits and you would see two distinct camps, but since nobody can get it HST is the reigning king of 45 SD loads.  When you compare the actual performance of Ranger-T and HST, both have lots of favorable OIS data and their gelatin performance data groups together very, very closely at the top of the heap.  I bought up HST when it was available, and only in the last month I bought some Ranger-T just to try it out (I have a ton of Gold Dots too).  Turns out my Glocks LOVE the Rangers.  Not that they dislike HST at all, but a small but quite noticeable increase in accuracy, enough to make me switch to Ranger-T in my Glocks.  I'm not losing any sleep at all about using the "lesser" round - it's still proven, well tested, top of the heap stuff and I'm willing to trade a tiny, tiny bit of expansion to get it.

As in all things, YMMV,

(Respectfully..)  There is virtually no difference.  As long as a round penetrates 12 inches and has good expansion, it's good to go and what actually matters is accurate placement of your shots.  The other rounds listed are 100% as good as HST for self defense.  Not being able to get something is not a good reason to expend energy chasing around after it.  It's a good reason to buy something else.

Damn. Just started to get low on my HST and wanted to replenish my supply. Guess I will try out the Ranger T. Who has the best price in stock right now?

Try finding it under the "Homeland Defender Fear No Evil" brand name.   Same stuff, different box.

Someone once said that the SXT in Ranger SXT's stood for Same Exact Thing...  Hard to find a meaner looking round than this...

Since HST is so unobtainable, I think now would be a good time for Winchester to change their box design and make it cooler.

With all the Ranger 'T' available these days, I wouldn't waste a minute thinking about the HST. If HST becomes available again, great. If not, we'll live.

I bought a crap load more than a year ago.  I am down to 9 boxes of HST45...and will probably stop shooting it now...hanging on for SHTF.

I'm sure that maybe even Remington might consider doing the same.
