| What does the +p and all that mean, please help repair my 9mm ignorance. |
|
According to SAAMI specs, 9x19 MAP (maximum average pressure) for standard pressure 9mm loads is 35.0 kpsi. For 9x19 +P loads, the MAP is 38.5 kpsi. Although there are 9x19 loads marked +P+ that are commonly available, I do not believe that SAAMI has set forth or intends to establish a set MAP for that pressure rating and I'd be willing to bet that such loads typically operate in the 40.0+ kpsi range. I thought +P meant "Proof", as in loaded to the same pressures as the high-pressure test cartridges used to eliminate firearms with defective, weak actions and barrels. |
No, that is not correct(if you are being serious). NYPD uses 124+p Gold dots as their dept. issue load for their Glock 19s. I don't think they are trying to blow up all of their guns, but I wouldn't put it past some of those Liberals .FB |
I see, I was wrong. Total mix-up on my part.
