If that .44spec doesnt expand, it still bores a bigger, and I'd bet, a deeper one

Neither.

The .44 SPL would be more controllable and have less blast and muzzle flash allowing for quicker follow up shots.

Too late. I got the .357 Mag yesterday morning. Now I just need to make a trip to the range with a couple hundred rounds...

It was a tough decision, but the .357 Mag was on a smaller frame and had a bobbed hammer. If they were the same size the outcome might've been different...

.357 because you can shoot .38's out of it, and I don't think i'd want to shoot a .44 mag out of a 2" bbl

ETA: I can't read you were talking about 44 spcl not 44 mag, but I still stick to .357
