How does this compare with other "range" ammo such as American Eagle or Wally World white box ( 230 gr FMJ flavor)![]() |

I put about 500 rounds thru my Springfield Trophy Match 1911A1. I couldn't be more pleased. Not a single misfeed or misfire. It does seem to be a little hot, But accuracy is better than I am. One of these days I'll actually bench test it against some match grade stuff. See how it compares. It does tend to be a little dirtier than more expensive shuff, but it's easy to clean up. It's my primary choice for range ammo. Does anyone know who make it and where? HTH |
Locally purchased. BTW...Natchez shooters Supplies has them for $8.82 per box of 50. Damned good price. |

fwiw, i find that fiocchi is only a little bit more in 9 mm ($6 / box) the fiocchi website has all their loads and velocity data it is very clean and i really llike if for the low cost i also shoot alot of blazer aluminum case .45 that i buy for 8-8.50 / box and it is really great tho it is hot (875FPS 230 gr FMJ) and very clean i like it becaue it simulates the recoil of heavy defense loads if you dont reload i am not aware of any downside to the aluminum cases i shoot it in hks, sigs, smiths, springfield , colt and they all like it |

The local indoor range has it as it's range ammo for people to buy... Not bad, a bit more flash than the UMC brick packs (250 rounds) you can get at Gander Mountain...and they seem a bit hotter. I can pretty easily tell which magazine has Magtech in it, and which one I loaded with the UMC range ammo. Haven't had any failures that were not magazine or extractor related in my 1911 with this ammo at all.. YMMV |

Magtech is a product of CBC (Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos) in Brasil, formerly an affiliate of Remington Arms (going back to the mid-1900s). Not sure, but I believe they also make pistol ammo under contract to Federal, using the brand name "Independence" (boxes say "Made in Brasil"), which I feel is a tad cooler than both Magtech and FAE. I have tried both, my local ammo dealer gives me a great price on both, and both have turned out to be good range ammo in both my SA1911 and my B92Brig. No issues after several thousands of rounds of 9mm and about a thousand of .45acp. |
