I purchased some ammo that was said to be "bulk packed" but these primers look to have striker marks? But not hard enough to detonate the primers.
Anyone have a idea whats going on with these?

Rifle ammo?

Probably from the tips of the other rounds.

I have some bulk like that. Nothing to worry about. It will still go bang.

I've seen marks like this on my hand loads if I get a little over zealous with the hand primer tool. Shouldn't effect performance. Just means those are probably reloads.

Ok nevermind.

That's from trash on the primer seating mandrel when those were loaded.
Reloads most likely.

This is my opinion as well.  A little bit of brass shavings on the mandrel can do this.

Yup this.

They'll shoot fine I've done that many times.

Being bulk packed ammo I'm of the opinion that's from being hit by other cartridges in the package while being moved around.

That's what the seller told me, but if that were true, the cases would all be dinged up also, and they are not.
It could be LEO trade in ammo, but far from new.
It could be culled ammo from the manufacturer, due to the blems on the primers.

Primers are thinner and softer than the cases.

Its probably just re-manufactured ammo

I have encountered more than one primer seating punch that had a nipple dead in the middle from a misaligned cutoff tool in manufacture.

Probbaly slightly worn and a few thousandths off dead center on the cutting edge.

A few strokes with a smooth file fixes them.
