I was wondering what ya'll consider to be a nice all around 9mm round that performs well and doesn't break the bank for stocking deep for practice and SHTF purposes.

My nightstand and carry guns are all filled with Federal HST 124 gr, but I wont be able to afford over a 1000 rounds of that. My last kind of large 9mm purchase was Fiocci, and I have to say it seemed a bit weak and dirty...

I am about ready for another bulk purchase and would appreciate any recommendations.

I've used wolf and tula 9 in both my 9's
cheap and I don't care how messy they are, I clean my guns after use anyway

It's a shame SG is out of this. I bought 3 cases and I am pretty pleased with it. My usual go to is Blazer Brass.

You shouldn't pay over $199 a case for 9mm.

I think some get too caught up in it.  KISS....buy whatever brass ammo is cheapest.
For SD ammo, YES you can afford 1K rds of premium SD ammo. Save some $ & buy it over a year. Not like you shoot it often.

My usual plinking ammo thats brass cased consists of magtech, s&b and ppu. They're all pretty consistent, and fairly clean. Usually pay $180-190 per case shipped.

If I'm going to buy 9mm, which I usually reload, Speer Lawman.

I always buy/reload 147gr.

This is great ammo.  The NATO loading is much hotter than standard FMJ.

For general plinking I shoot nothing but Wolf WPA steel cased.  For the price it is highly under rated ammo.

I picked up a few cases of the Wolf Gold and haven't had any issues at all with it so far, after about 600 rounds.

Most any FMJ is good for plinking/training.

I've had good luck with Speer, Federal, Blazer Brass, PMC, Magtech, PPU, S&B etc.

Whatever brass cased 147 grain load I can find the cheapest.

I have two cases of Lawman 147 grain that I bought at SGammo.

I also have a case of Freedom Munitions 147 grain.

For what it's worth, the Freedom Munitions is noticeably weaker than the Lawman (and the 147 grain Remington UMC I have had previously)...if that matters to you. It does to me, but I shoot 9mm at my local bowling pin match for fun sometimes when I want to shoot something other than my G21. I won't be taking the Freedom Munitions ammo to that...I'll just shoot it for practice but won't be buying any more.

All I have shot in quantity is Winchester White box 115gr from WM or local sporting goods stores. I don't shoot a ton, 900 counted through my XD, and about 1000 through my g19. No malfunctions, and it seems pretty clean, and at $20-22/100 relatively cheap.

is there something better?

federal american eagle is running a rebate right now,  169.99 after 50 dollar rebate for brass cased ammo.  not too shabby, 02.c

just buy the FMJ ballistic equivalent of the self defense round you use.  AE 124gr fmj (like most standard pressure 124gr rounds) are a ballistic match for 124gr HST

Steel cased ammo is going for around $170 per case shipped.

I don't see a reason to spend even $10 more on brass cased ammo unless you also reload.

I work PT at a range so I can plink with steek cased ammo then bring home buckets of brass
