The standard pressure is an older lot with the longer skives. The +P is a newer lot. Velocity advantage is still there, but looks like those shorter skives are there to limit expansion and maintain penetration:

9x19mm, 147gr JHP, Federal Premium HST, P9HST2/P9HST4 Gel Test, 7.72" barrel

Thanks for doing the test.  I have a good stash of the old style 147gr std press rounds.  It's good to see that penetration is still quite good out of a longer barrel.  The +p, newer style round is pretty spectacular.  HST is my preferred SD round.  Every test I have seen has been great.
