Does anyone have suggestions for a 100rd box for .22lr that is cheap and not 5x larger than it needs to be?
I hate keeping my ammo in loose boxes mostly because its harder to figure out how many rounds are left. I even keep my cheap tulammo boxes to put my wwb ammo in since they are so much smaller and it saves shelf space. |

I save my 100 round CCI plastic boxes and store the bulk box ammo in them - that way I know how many rounds I am taking to the range when I go and makes it easy to dole out five or ten rounds at a time. I thought that everyone did this..... Red ![]() I did that also but I've only ever seen 4 boxes lol. They are full of the bulk ammo I've bought and I refill as needed, but I was just wondering if there were cheap alternatives to finding more 100rd ccii boxes. |

Peanut butter jars . Sounds silly but with the screw top and all it works pretty well. If you are super anal dump a 100 rounds in and make a sharpie mark then another 100 and another mark. Doesn't give you a exact count but you can get a ballpark idea
The CCI box works but I am not going to take the time to load them up unless I have some good match ammo that I don't want to slam around but all of that is in 50 round boxes I hate to tell you how many guys show up at my range with a ammo can that they have dumped 10 value packs of 22 ammo into , makes no reason to me . Other than "look at me I have a huge box o ammo" what is the point of dumping little boxes into big boxes? |

I just don't know if my personality can take it. I don't have OCD and generally I am not a perfectionist, but for some odd reason I want my ammo in nice orderly boxes.... to have it otherwise seems to but a burr in my brain that just eats at me. Maybe I'm weird. |

There is a damn good reason to dump ammo into cans like that Its called consolidation and you can store a hell of a lot of ammo in cans and use far less space not to mention, getting ammo out of the moisture absorbing paper box for optimum storage. |

To each their own, but to me it is just too sloppy. |

NOT all of my ammo is loose in cans but ninety percent is in cans.It allows me to control the moisture until I shoot it. I am not wealthy, I just like to properly store my amm I have ammassed a modest (compared to many here) stockpile. Per panic buy in bulk shoot some put the rest back, that is why many of us here have ammo to shoot during times like these. |

If you have young kids or know someone who does, these would work well. They have a snap on plastic lid. The taller baby food jars would pry work too, with an airtight sealed lid http://<a href=http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7414/9410799238_de5e540ff2.jpg</a> " /> I use these for small gun parts and all kinds of batteries (red dot scopes) also small pistol primers and ammo |
| I advise against dumping ammo into alternate containers- I know people who do this then find out there is a recall on a certain lot or you develop a problem with your ammo and in contacting the ammo maker they want to know which lot gave you a problem and you won't have that info |

All of my bulk ammo is stored with the factory printed lot# off of the original packages stashed inside the ammo can so this is a non issue. And if I need to send it back I do like I have done before. Dump said ammo into a box tape it up and send it back .Federal had no problem with a recalled batch that I did that way. But what the hell do I know. If ammo cans is good enuf for the Mil. Its good enuf for me. |
