I just picked up some steel case Tula 45ACP.  For $15 I couldn't resist, but this isn't going to turn my 1911 into a Glock(grenade), is it?

I will blow through the whole box at the next range trip but I am starting to have irrational fears about this ammo.

Please assuage my fears.

No, it won't. Tula is generally weaker than most brass-cased factory ammo. Despite it being dirty and slightly under-powered, it is actually good economy range ammo. I've found it to be reliable, and reasonably accurate.

You would be lucky if it turned your 1911 into a Glock

It will work just fine in your 1911. I've used plenty of Tula and other Russian steel cased ammo in multiple calibers over the years with no problems. I've even reloaded the steel .45 cases and they work OK.
