I have a Kimber compact custom that I was thinking of selling. I was taking some pictures of it and only noticed in one of the pictures that inside the barrel, some of the grooves have a reddish discoloration in them. This discoloration is only in some of the grooves and only to either side of the groove, not in the center. The center is clean. I have included a picture. My question is this: is this copper deposits or rust? If it's rust, how can I get rid of it before I sell it?

Use some bore cleaner with ammonia.

If it turns blue it is copper.

I'll give it a longer soak in copper cutter then. Thanks for the help everyone.
