There will be an approximately 1/4" gap when the gov't slide is mounted on the Commander frame. Yes, the dust cover is too short. Para slides will work on a non-Para frame.

I know Kurt is a gunsmith but I don't think he answered your question accurately.

For the Officer's ACP frame you can use a Commander slide (I've done it several times) but not a Government Model slide. Colt's CCO (Concealed Carry Officer's) is a Commander slide on an Officer's frame.

My accuracy was impaired by skimming the post. The Officer is shorter in the butt but not in the dust cover. Same specs apply. Here's my LW Officer (Colt/Caspian):

...and here shown below with a Commander-length 9x23 on top:

No offence was intended Kurt.  I figured you knew about the Officer's and Commander similarities but I wasn't sure "ssshorty" would.

NONE TAKEN! I just wanted to illustrate. That Officer needs a new pic taken of it. The customer has it on the seat of his Suburban, and I'll have access to it soon for upgrading that shot taken with my old camera. I'm the LW guy. Down here, the heat plays such a factor when you want to be carry/mobile. I built that ULW Officer several years ago. The unmarked 9mm Commander slide is on my Randall for now, but I'm going to fit it to my ODI Viking/Seecamp.
