I was dry firing my 1911 doing some drills and noticed that after the hammer drops it makes a click about a second later. It feels like a spring or something is releasing inside the gun. It doesn't do it every time but I would say 90% of the time. I have never noticed this before but the gun has been sitting in the safe for at least a year or so. It was 100% reliable prior and has had some work done a smith a few years back including some trigger work and a mainspring housing. The gun is a Springfield Loaded Lightweight. Is it broken? I probably won't be able to get to the range until right before a 3-gun match I was hoping to attend.

Maybe the firing pin sticking? Never encountered this before so that's my best guess.

I had a Springfield some years back and the disconnector would click when the slide was cycled. I guess it was a hair too long or the notch in the slide was a hair not deep enough.
Take the slide off. put a drop of oil on the disconnector, each side of the hammer, and on each side of the grip safety and each side of the top of the hammer strut.
while you have the slide off a couple of drops on the slide rails , locking lugs, and end of barrel where the bushing rubs, wron't hurt.
Then cycle it.

Also if you are dry firing the gun and keep the trigger squeesed, when you release it, you will heard the disconnector click. perfectly normal.
