Well, since no one else is answering...no.  I wouldn't.  Of course, if I owned an XD I'd prolly want to get rid of it as quickly as possible, but the XD is worth more.  If it was the 6906 + money, maybe.  But not straight up.  Check gunbroker for a general idea of prices.  Yes if he wanted to trade you a M&P.

$350-$400 depending on "mint" if it's NIB mint maybe a bit more.

The values of the two guns probably aren't that far apart it would come down to whether you were getting some cash or if you like the Smith better.

well since I only pd. 375 for the xd40 I figured it was not a bad deal. So I am now the owner of a like new 15 year old 6906. I know it has been fired but I cannot find any evidence of it.Thanks for the input as I have been out of the market for some time and really did not know what things are going for, hell my last new ar purchase was a colt for 531.00 out the door.

You did well.  The 6906 is a battleship and it will last several lifetimes.  I was the 5th owner of a 5906 and we all shot the hell out of it.  I  bet it is several owners down the line and more thousands of rounds through it.
