I have a S&W 4505 , and I was wondering if anyone here knows how many were produced?

The model number would indicate a blued pistol, if I recall, but I never heard of the one you have.
The "06" in  4506 would indicate a stainless model, an"03" usually an alloy frame, the "05" as in yours would be steel.
I will look it up when I get off "work".
Failing that or some other future comments, I would call S&W in person.

Thanks for the reply. I do not think a large amount of the 4505 (blued .45 ) were produced, but I am just curious.                                                 Thanks again

Some more information for you, gunnagitcha.
The 4505 was manufactured in 1990 and discontinued in '91, not a long production run, explaining why I never had the pleasure of even seeing one.
Seems like the going value is about $100 less that it's stainless twin, the 4506, according to the Modern Gun Values book.

As far as I can remember, there were 1200 of the 4505 pistols produced. Most went to LE sales, I believe. I don't know about the value being lower, if it's in good shape. From my experience, value is about equal to a 4506 in the real world. There are folks that want the 4505 because of the limited production. The ones I've had were extremely accurate out of the box.

Book value be darned, I think as time goes on any S&W collector would pay a premium for such a limited run, even surpassing the 4506.
Now what to do...keep it nice or shoot it a lot?

How about shooting it & actually cleaning it too?
