[ARCHIVED THREAD] - serial numbers

I can not find a place on S&W site to run the numbers to find dates of Manufacture.

I have a 686 and a 66-7

There is no web site (to my knowledge) that gives this information.

You need to find someone with a 3rd edition copy of The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson which lists serial numbers and mfg dates or, you can buy the book at Amazon for about $30.00

I recently sent S&W an email inquiring about a date of manufacture based on my serial number. They emailed me back with the date within a day or two.
