Compact 2nd gen S&W auto, it and its SS couterpart (669) were the predecessors to the 69xx models. (And slightly smaller than the newer ones.) DA/SA with hammer-drop safety, bobbed/no-snag hammer, minimal sights, 12 rounds in the OEM magazines –– very nice little carry-guns in their heyday and a bit ahead of their time IMHO. A 469 has been my wife's primary carry-gun for 20+ years now. She loves it, is quite capable with it, and has no plans to change. She has two of the 469s and a 669 I came across for her a year or two ago. FWIW, I picked her up a 6906 (a step up, I thought) a few years ago and she just didn't like it as well as her older models –– go figure. ![]() I have pics of hers but can't access them from here –– I'll try to remember to come back and add them later. BTW, zero problems/issues with any of hers in all those years with factory magazines (they don't like most aftermarket mags, though). |

The 469 is from the second generation of Smith autos, it's a good gun but unless it's really cheap <$250 imo I'd look for a 6906 the third generation.
IMHO third gen guns have better triggers and can be had with Novak sights. Don't get me wrong the 469 is a very good gun but usually you can get the more refined third gen for about the same money. The information that they don't like aftermarket mags has been my experience also fortunately factory mags are cheap and plentiful at the moment. You can also use 59 series mags for a couple of extra rounds. |

thanks what years were the 2nd gens? This site says 1980-1990 but I could swear I remember third gen guns in the late 80s but I was a youngster so I could be wrong. http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg01-e.htm |
