My brother got one NIB off a guy who bought it and then decided he wanted something else so he got for $75 less than what the guy paid for it. I have shot it, and while it shoots ok, it is S&W's attempt at a Glock styled weapon. Personally if you are going to buy an S&W get the SW99. Better pistol, mags are easier to find for it, and it uses the standard rail for weapon lights. I have the SW99 in .40SW in both the fullsize and compact version and they are better shooters than the SW40VE. |

Virtually all experienced gun owners will tell you to avoid the Sigmas. They're ok, nothing more. I suggest you take the same amount of $$ or close to it & buy a used brand or model such as S&W99, Beretta 92FS, Glock, Kimber, etc. etc. I predict Sigmas won't be made after the next 4-5 years. Sales are lower than a liberals morals. |
| just my side of the subject...i feel safe in my home even though im in a wheel chair....but my 9mm sigma ve i thought was a nice gun for the money. no jams..shoots straight.....lots of police used them...even though they mostly traded up to glock,sig,etc..shoots great...feels good in my hand i likedthe grip better then the glock or steyr in my price range...but i saved money...and a lifetime warrenty...yeah i know im gonna hear something over this but. |
| The sigma was my first handgun purchase about five years ago. While I like trhe gun and it shoots fine I'd echo kaotic and Bob and tell you to go with something else. Unless you don't have the cash for a glock or sig or whatever then I would say spend the $300 dollars and buy one. They are OK, that's about it. |
| also, the ve series sigma was upgraded from the old generation 1 i had....they call the ve the enhanced...equipmant rail added, better trigger and a redone grip....go to smith and wesson.com..and look up all the police officers that had sigmas as service guns...hardly any jams, and they have more trouble out of there glocks, that there issued..theres more than 1 ..that personly bought sigmas for keepers....i have a taurus pt92..and a ruger p94 40 cal...i like the sigma...points better..and im more accurate with it....mike. |
