By "play" do you mean slack or a click in the trigger pull when the hammer is cocked?  If so, that means that the pistol's trigger play spring is out of adjustment.  The spring is thin flat spring on top of the trigger, held on by a rivet through the trigger.  It's not essential to the function of the pistol, and if you fire your first shot in DA mode and then only let the trigger forward far enough to feel the reset, you won't notice it.  That said, you can eliminate the play by gently bending the spring with a pencil eraser.  You will have to detail strip the pistol to get to the trigger, though.

If you don't like the trigger of your 645, you may want to consider sending it to Novak in WV. He did a job on my 4506 and 1006 for me.
