This pistol was owned by a good friend and co-worker who died in a automobile accident a couple years ago. His brother, another good friend and co-worker asked me to clean/lube it for him. How do I get the slide off? The magazine is lost also. Thanks to anyone who can help me get it apart, and back together. Danny |

From memory...a spent .22 shell (or like size object) inserted into the top of the slide, partially opened, releases the tension to pull upwards on the disassembly lock. (the odd piece with the finger grooves) Wear glasses, I think the spring will try to exit in a hurry. No need to mess with the barrel nut in front. Magazines are still around at just about any gun shop or from S&W. Check the sideplate screws for tightness, I have known some to loosen up and even fall out. You may want to just try opening the action, locking the slide back and doing the best you can...good luck. |
