Hey all,
I've been lurking on this forum for a while but never posted. Mainly because all my questions have been answered through others posts. Anyway, I'd like to know about the M&P9L/Pro. Who has one, what do you like, dislike about it? Would you trust your life to this weapon? How readily availiable are replacement parts and what upgrades have you made to it? Any information would be helpful. Thanks |

I bought the standard 5 inch 9mm. Fired 80 rounds so far, two failures to extract. Gonna lube it up well and shoot 200 sometime this month and if it doesn't get over that shit it's going back.
Im gonna give it a chance. It could replace Glocks for me, if it works. Very ergonomic. |

I have the Pro but have not had a chance to fire it yet. One main difference in the Pro and the other models is the Pro is suppose to have a better trigger in addition to the Novak sights. Buy one now and there is a $50 rebate or 2 free mags special going on from S&W.
eta: here is the M&P forum where you can find lots of info: m&p forum |

| Just got an M&P Pro and have had 3 other M&P's previously. It stovepiped about 50% of the time with the reloads I usually shoot (all my M&P's have shot the same reloads just fine), so I switched the stock 16 lb. spring to a 13 lb. and it now works flawlessly. Love the better trigger and the sights. |

I have got a Pro that I shoot IDPA matches with. I would estimate it has 3500 rounds through it. Mostly reloads, but a couple hundred WWB. I have had 2 light primer strikes with the WWB. Otherwise zero problems with factory loads. I've had maybe 4 failures to fire with some of my reloads, but I attribute that to bad primers. Maybe one stovepipe in the whole lot.
If I intended to use it for personal defense, I would treat it like any other firearm. Pick whatever defense ammo I wanted and put a few hundred rounds of it through the gun. If it works, I'll carry it. If not, I won't. |

Any information would be helpful. Thanks The 9L and "Pro" models are different models of handgun. The 9L is essentially a standard M&P with a longer barrel and slide. This makes them harder to conceal and you need a different height front sight for them. Personally I don't understand the point of the 9L. The "Pro" model also has a longer slide and barrel. It also has a fiber-optic front sight and a rather odd rear sight designed for competition use. The combo isn't ideal for serious social purposes, but it is really easy to pick up the sights at speed by following the bright yellow dot. The "Pro" model also has the Performance Center sear in it, which yields a trigger pull almost as good as the trigger on a good 1911. It's the friggin' heat. The pro needs new sights for street carry and it will also require a different height front sight, but because of the good trigger I wouldn't be opposed to the extra headache. |

Got a M&P 9/Pro on order with my local gun store today..Can't wait. I looked at the M&P 9L but is was on hold for another customer. The better trigger and sights will be a big plus.. Thank guys for all of ya'lls input regarding the M&P 9/L and the M&P 9/ Pro. Happy shooting.... Rodster |
| I've got 800 rds through my 9L with no malfunctions using S&B, Winchester,Fiocchi, Black Hills and CCI. Replaced the rear sight with a Warren. I will probably have a trigger job in the future but the stock trigger seems to be smoothing out. Normally carry a FS9 but this gun is the same length as a 5" 1911 which I carried for years only lighter. No downside as I see it. |
|
Spend the extra money and get the pro. The trigger is what sets it apart. I have some 4500 rounds through it without a problem The more you shoot it the smoother it gets. I have 10000 rounds through my MP9, no problems. Both are tack drivers. Customer support excellent.
Want a great concealed carry holster. Go to themalabarfront.com Flattest most concealable hoslster out there. |

I've had a full-sized .40 for quite a while now, and finally got out to really shoot it a couple of weeks ago.
Now, I'm looking for a "lightly used" 9L, or 9Pro, and a compact, but, even though it seems like there were tons of them for sale when I wasn't looking for one, the market seems pretty slim right now.

I don't understand how it attaches to anything. Can you please post some pictures of yours? Maybe you can send me an IM or something? Also, I'd like to see how high the grip of the gun sits above the belt line. Thanks, Stu |
| I have the phantom holster for a fullsize SWMP9 it has two 1.5" belt loops on the back. I have not tried their iwb. It is the flattest holster I have worn. Most of the shirts I wear don't hand down far and I have no problem concealing, so it rides pretty high. I will break out the camera and snap a few pics. |

Thanks, Stu Here's a writeup I did on the RCS gear: http://www.ar15.com/content/page.html?id=542 The short story is that the belt loops are attached by screws. Those screws can be undone and the loops themselves will come off and can be replaced by any of the other options. Personally for IWB I prefer the rubber loops. |
| Does anyone have an M&P Pro that could give me a good comparison to shooting a Glock 17? I'm on the search for a full size 9mm for IDPA and I was searching for a Glock 17 but now I'm thinking that the Pro might be the better way to go. However, I've only shot a rental M&P .40 that has had a year or two of hard living so I'm somewhat reluctant to pull the trigger, so to speak ;) |
|
Hate to say it, but I bought an M&P Pro from Gunbroker.com NIB but it was quite defective.
The trigger is extremely gritty and actually hangs up. I discovered that it is caused by the firing pin safety plunger. The front sight was also not centered well. For the record, I have another full size M&P and it is a fantastic gun. That is why I bought a Pro. So I am going to ask Smith and Wesson to fix it. Anybody have this problem with an M&P? I am hoping the factory will pay to ship and fix. Very disappointing. I did go to the range just to see how it would go. Bad. Mostly FTFs and stovepipes. This gun must have missed the QC folks. |

I have full confidence that S&W will take care of things for you, they have a well deserved reputation to uphold when it comes to their customer service. From my limited interactions with their CS folks, they have been outstanding.
Give em a holler, explain things calmly, and they'll send you a shipping lable to send it back. No worries. |

I have had G17, G19 and G34's and they don't shoot as well for me as the M&P's. Only time will tell whether they will be as reliable. That said, I carry the M&P's on a daily basis. |
