Found a S&W Model 18-4 today at the fun show. According to the model number, it wsa made between 1977 (my HS gradauation!) & 1981.

It has a target hammer, trigger & a trigger ob. The SA trigger feels like 2lbs, maybe a hair less!   bounce]

The DA trigger feels like ball bearings rolling along a smooth steel surface. Maybe 5lbs, if that. I'll measure it later at the gun smiths shop.

Price was $525 + ttt.

I'm a sucker for a nice .22 handgun...........

There is some slight blueing wear on the muzzle from a holster, no biggie, IMO. I will be replacing the gawd awful OEM grips with some Ajax rosewood fingergroove grips, similiar to below.

The gun:

Ol' Bob really loves his Ajax rosewoods! That model will require a square butt aftermarket grip. Does Ajax make them for the SQ BT? Anyway, very, very nice 18. Congrats, ... and Bob, if you want to get rid of those "gawd awful OEM grips " jes' let me know. I'll take 'em off your hands, no problem.

Oddly enough, no, Ajax doesn't make them...........

I ended up getting them from http://www.gungripsupply.com. They were about $10 cheaper than S&W is for what appears to be identical grips.

Should be no problem getting you the OEM grips as once I put the rosewood's on, I never go back to the OEM style.

Well Bob, since you're certain you'll not ever put the OEM's back on your Model 18 (.22 lr Combat Masterpiece), I look forward to hearing from you when the Gun Grip Supply rosewoods reach you. You'll find an e-mail address is in my profile.

Thanks for the kind offer ..., and I do have to admit that supplier does have some really good looking grips for all kinds of wheelguns.

Grips came today!

Obligatory pics:

Not quite the rosewood pattern/color I would've picked out myself, but I may trade these in at the gun show when the grip guy comes back...................

They are neat handguns aren't they?  Yours looks really sharp.

I do prefer the OEM grips though but that's just me.

Good score and have fun,
Scott

The S&W OEM grips just don't fill my large hands well. Without a comfortable grip, one can never shoot well, IMO.

Nope, never have.
