Are all the M&P Pistols double action only?

Yes...Glock type actions if that helps

Yes, that's exactly what I wanted to know.  I just can't get used to that type of trigger, but I do like the M&P.

I've got P99's and Beretta's, I like knowing they are decocked if I'm carrying.  I bought an XD which doesn't and I simply can't carry it comfortably because it feels "hot".  Does the M&P feel like that?

What do you mean by "hot" as in temperature, or afraid of an accidental discharge? Because yes, the striker is back but there are 2 external safeties and 2 internal safeties, that thing isn't going off unless you have it firmly in your hand and finger on the trigger.

BAM! (read +1)

I carry my XDs with in one in the pipe with confidence. As long as the trigger is covered and you are using a quality holster, you have nothing to worry about. I use a CTAC.

A friend just recently started carrying his M&P9c. He was also nervous about keeping one in the pipe and the pistol not having any manual safeties. After he popped his cherry, his was GTG.

When it came to autos I used to be die hard 1911 fan because of the trigger plus ergonomics.  Glocks have earned my respect as a fighting firearm but I just don't like the grip angle.  Then I got my M&P 9.  I love it.  Very accurate and the trigger is easy to adapt to.  Ergonomics are top notch.

Shoot one before you decide you won't like it.

 Yeh, I meant accidental discharge.

Is the striker at full cock, or half cocked?  The glocks are kinda half cocked aren't they, and the trigger travel cocks and fires it?  To be honest I shot three rounds from a glock years ago, never liked em and dont remember the trigger much.

I think it's the striker at full cock that bugs me about the XD,  I don't like cocked and locked concealed carry. And it's safeties are too easy to defeat for me to stick it in my pants. I felt irresponsible carrying it.

By carrying concealed you inherently violate rule number 2 of firearm safety....the muzzle is really never pointed in a safe direction or at something you intend to shoot.  Its pointed straight down your leg, or down your butt crack, or many other ways depending on your holster choice.  In a jackass it points straight back out of your armpit....so it's essentially pointed at everything behind you wherever you are, Imagine how many people that is in a mall.  I don't want a loaded and cocked firearm pointed anywhere in my vicinity, even if the safety is on, and I wouldn't point one at anyone else.

When I'm packin I like a the pistol decocked, a full, slightly stiff double action travel for the first shot and no manual safety.

For me the logic is crude but simple, take a Remington 870, rack in a shell and put it on safe.  It's cocked and locked, right?  Take a loaded Smith 29 revolver and drop the hammer. Uncocked double action right?.......now alternate putting the muzzle of either one in you mouth and see which feels safer to you.  I vote for the revolver.  Where does the M&P fit?

Try one, I had Glocks and hated them. Then I got an M&P, it's so accurate I can plink with it and have fun. With the Glock all plinking did was waste ammo.

I carry one daily and never give it a second thought. Also use it in IDPA, IPSC and Tactical 3 Gun. Excellent weapon, accurate and most important - reliable!

Carry it with confidence and keep your finger off of the trigger...
