Good Afternoon/Evening Everyone,

Recently purchased a S&W 317 and was wondering if anyone has made a link to working the action on them, or similar smith revolvers.  On my Ruger sp101 I was able to follow a online link with some jewlers files to smooth the action.  Is there a similar link for the smith and wesson's?  Until then will just keep dry firing.
Thanks

Uh, jewelers files(or any file for that matter) are not appropriate for action work. India, ruby, and arkansas stones are.

If you go filing on the action parts of a Smith, expect to have to buy new parts or have a non functional/unsafe handgun. If you stone or file the engagement surfaces of the sear or hammer, expect to have to buy new parts or have a non functional/unsafe handgun.

You might look here for how to change the rebound spring. The mainspring is easier to change than the rebound spring, but may give problems with reliable ignition. If you decide to replace the rebound spring, you need to polish the inside of the frame where the rebound slide travels, the bottom of the rebound slide, and the rebound slide to hammer engagement surfaces.
