Does anyone have any experience with this pistol and do you think it is worth the price tag?

These guns will disappear soon with the recent introduction of S&Ws 1911. Given the choice, why would anyone want a 945? I wouldn't.

I had the opportunity to fire one and found that the grip was thicker in the web of your hand.  Furthermore the grip actually is longer than a standard 1911.    I live in Massachusetts and due to the current laws I have few options when it comes to 45s.

I had a chance to go to Smith & Wesson and fire the 1911 and the 945.  The two pistols are not really in the same league the 945 being a performance center creation and the 1911 a production gun.  I am sure Smith is going to come out with a performance center version of the 1911 soon.  After firing the 1911 I was told that that peticular pistol had approximately 75,000 rounds through it and that the engineer in charge of it checks it out about once a week to see how it is holding up.  I was pretty impressed with that kind of durabuility!

I just picked up a 945 (actually sitting in the Gunshops Safe for the moment) - Have heard nothing but good things, that they are upthere with custom Kimbers, and can at least keep up and ususaly outshoot just about anything on the custom market in its class.

I will let you know once I get my hands on it (license is tomorrow)
