I just bought a like new 1006. Always wanted a 10mm, and it actually shoots good when I'm really concentrating on the trigger squeeze, but the trigger is really not at all what I like. Too used to 1911's I suppose. Anyone have a gunsmith they would recommend to do a trigger job on this pistol? If I can't do something about this trigger, it's going to have to go.

Well, what exactly is wrong with the trigger?

My 1026's trigger was nice except for the "Product Liability" 10 lbs single action pull.
But that was easily remedied with a lighter hammer spring from Wolff.
If it's not crisp, a qualified 'smith shouldn't have any problems cleaning it up for you I think. Shouldn't set you back too much.

Probably just the design, like I said I'm used to 1911's. I'm sure the trigger still could be improved upon to make it more crisp. I do like the pistol though. It is very robust, and should be able to handle many thousands of rounds with no problem.

The Performance Center at Smith or the guys over at Novak can do an action for you at an affordable cost

I've used the Performance Center and have been disappointed with the final result.  It's nothing but a production action job.  If you want nice work, you need to go with a gunsmith who really takes his work personally.

I've used Karl Sokol at Chestnut Mountain Sports since he first started.  He was, and still is, a one-man shop, so he personally does all the work.  He gets into it so much that he can actually remember just about every gun he's worked on.  I was amazed when I talked about a few details with him about the first revolver be built for me for competition and he remembered every detail about it!

His website is simple and under construction, but his work speaks for itself.  I've tried a few other gunsmiths for work before, but I've never been happy with the results.  Karl's especially known for his work on 1911's, S&W revolvers and Browning Hi-Powers, but he's a master at anything he does.  I was at his shop a few weeks ago, and I was amazed at the variety of projects he had going.  I don't think there was a brand of handgun I didn't see there.

If you want an action job, or any other work, that you can be 100% confident that you will be happy with the results, give Karl a call.  Here's his website with prices and contact info.  Hope this helps:
