In the 28-2 the cylinder stop was changed, the trigger guard screw eliminated, the double diamond grips insert deleted, and the serial prefix changed to N. Production ran from 1961 to 1983, when the 28-3 took over. The 28 was from 57 to 60, the 28-1 from 60 to 61, and the 28-3 from 82 to 86. Smith uses a dash system for engineering changes. Most models go thru several over the course of the years. |
