I'm hoping for a tactical shotgun or precision rifle....... Are there any S&W insiders here that have advance details of what might be included in the new guns? |

As a rabid S&W wheelgun fan, I think this is a mistake on their part. All one has to do is point to Winchester to see how overcrowded the long gun market is. Ditto for shotguns as well. No doubt they're hoping some folks (like me ) will buy one simply because it has a "S&W" on the side of it.Obviously if they come up with some sort of cutting edge design, that will make them stand out of the pack. But I don't see that happening, IMO. No doubt time will tell. |
Kind of like the way S&W is making most of the 1911 frames for other companies (long before they were in the 1911 business) and putting other people's names on them? It's called subcontracting, it happens with just about every manufacturer out there to some point. I do agree that the S&W AR isn't anything really new, and I don't think S&W is making many, if any, of the parts they assemble, but it seems like it's a good quality rifle. I haven't fired one yet, but I handled it and even the base model comes with a good trigger pull. From the reviews I've recently read, it sounds like they have assembled a reliable AR, too. We'll see what their future really is, though. Being a S&W fan, I, too, would like one, just for the name on the receiver. Better yet, I'd like a stripped S&W receiver to build my own AR on! |
