I like the 44spl but I would go with the new 22 in 45ACP.  Good looking retro revolver with a nice blue finish.  You should be able to get it cheaper than what you have listed though.  Good luck!

The .44spl is a great cartridge...IF you reload. If you don't, I think you would be better served with the M22 in .45acp. JMO

I disagree. I would hate to fool with the GD moon clips. .44spl eliminates the need for them, ballastics are similiar, if not the same.

I gotta agree the moon clips can be a PITA, but they also make for some very fast reloads. One or another of the various "de-mooner" tools will help greatly. I have had several .44s and .45s and I liked them all, so I do not see a "bad" choice here. There is also still the .45 Auto Rim cartridge if one wants to shoot the .45 and use rimmed cases, although most guys don't even know it exists. Since I have well over a dozen .45s, the M22 would make more sense for me as a defensive revolver...which is what it is designed to be. The M21 would do every bit as good a job, especially with good reloads, but I hardly ever reload anymore. Of course, there are now a few pretty decent factory defense rounds made in .44Spl.

I still kick my azz for turning down the mint original M22 a friend offered me years ago at the (then) high price of $450...with box and papers!

Don't bother...I have already called myself every kind of dumbass in the book!

well, guess I was just hypnotized by the gold inlay....and the american handgunner's hype....
I bought it..
679.00 new in box with plastic box and wood display case plus the dealer is going to hook me up with the range bag offer from S&W

having been a MAJOR 1911 owner, shooter, sigh, JUNKIE>>
I havnt owned a wheel gun in over 10 years..

well, got the new gun fever pretty bad, hell its been 8 months since I bought one..
got the bonus check coming next month..
owe the feds a few bucks.,(need to buy a house i guess) but they can wait for the payout..

This is just such a classic looking pistol,
I did check out the new mod 22 but,,just wasnt the same in look and style..I had a mod 25 eons ago, hated the moon clips, they get bent, lost, spring across the range, just didnt float my boat.

so,,guess I can start reloading again,,.45 and 9mm have gotten sooooo cheap, I quit doing that about 6 years ago, sold the 4x4 press and lots of stuff.
I guess me and the old rock crusher can turn out a few hundred .44 a month..
