Personally, I don't like a barrel on a revolver longer than 6-1/2", so I know what you mean. My father had an 8-3/8" nickel M29 when I was younger. He said he just liked the looks of it, until he shot it. He was used to his 29-2 6-1/2" and the barrel was just too much. I have a 6-1/2" 29-2, but I have it to him since he missed the one he used to own when I was a kid. So, I shoot my 4" 629-1. It's a great shooter, and I can hit a gas grill propane tank at 100 yards with it every time with my reloads. I don't do max loadings for it, and I'm thinking about going down just a little more for extended shooting sessions. I use 10gr of Unique now with a Lyman 429421 or a Lyman RNFP (I forgot the number). But, I'm planning to try some loadings using about 8.5gr of Unique. My friend has a 41mag, nickel, 8-3/8" in a presentation case and he likes the long barrel. It just doesn't balance for me that well. |
| Ugly gun, you are making me covet that M25 you have there, looks like you have a real find. I would gladly trade my M29 for your M25Hawgleg, |
| Ugly gun, I am going to have to quit looking at this forum, showing me guns like that is just plain torturehat |
