I'm having problems with my Shield 9 specially on the magazine release. It gets rusted pretty bad every 5 weeks or so after cleaning. I contacted S&W but they want to evaluate or check the whole gun. Which I dont understand because apart from that it works completely fine. I just need a new mag release to replace the rusted one. This is my only ccw weapon and sending it back to S&W is not an option right now, so I prefer to buy a new mag release. The problem is I cant fin a replacement for the stock one. Does anyone know where I can buy or get a replacement ?

ETA: didn't even read the whole post . Call and complain to SW they may send you a new one.I see... I already did that on the first post and they still want me to send them the whole gun. Which I found unnecessary because it works fine. The only problem is the mag release. That's why I searching for one to buy, install it and that's it. |

If you call and be persistent they may cave. If not turn around time is pretty quick. |

I've had a couple problems with the mag release in my Shield 9mm rusting. Best thing I found was to steel woll it to remove the rust, then lube the crap out of it with CLP or some other rust preventative lube. Once you get it cleaned up, about all you can do is take it out once in a while and clean it, then re-lube it to prevent rust. I'd love to find a stainless release or something like that but for now, that's about all you can do. Good luck.
